Over 470 investment scam cases reported in Singapore so far this year

Since the beginning of 2025, over 470 investment scam cases have been reported in Singapore, resulting in losses of at least SG$32.6 million (US$24.1 million), according to Singapore police.

Police stated on Wednesday that victims were targeted via social media, messaging, and dating apps. Singaporean authorities have advised the public to be cautious when making investment choices.

Suggested precautionary steps include activating security features like privacy settings to block unknown users from adding them to chat groups, looking for scam indicators through official channels, confirming the legitimacy of investment firms, and reporting suspected scams to authorities, as well as notifying family and friends, Xinhua reported.
