Eva Yinuo, Scamstyle.com - Thailand and China will collaborate to tackle the rapidly expanding networks of illegal call centers along Thailand's borders with Myanmar and Cambodia.

Southeast Asia, particularly the border regions between Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia, has become a center for telecom and other online fraud since the Covid-19 pandemic, as reported by the United Nations, which noted that hundreds of thousands of people have been trafficked to work in scam centers.

Thai police stated that a coordination center will be established at the national police headquarters in Bangkok, and Chinese authorities plan to set up another one in Thailand's Mae Sot district, which borders Myanmar's Myawaddy, a significant hub for scam call centers. Previously, on January 21, Chinese state media reported that officials from China, Myanmar, and Thailand had agreed to dismantle telecom fraud rings operating in Myanmar during a meeting in Kunming, China.
